Ø    Simplifies routes thereby facilitating transferring and encouraging bus usage

Ø     Fills gaps in service in East Flatbush and Borough Park.

Ø     Greatly improves access to isolated areas such as Gerritsen Beach and Canarsie.

Ø    Provides two new airport services, one local and one limited stop, enabling a good portion of Brooklyn one or two bus access to JFK Airport

Ø    No significant additional route mileage (excluding airport services).

Ø    Greatly improves service to all major Hospitals especially Maimonides and Kings County.

Ø     Can be implemented in stages.

Ø     Provides alternative routings.

Ø      Eliminates portions of lightly utilized routes and strengthens weak routes without significantly increasing route mileage increasing system viability.

Ø      Eliminates unnecessary complexities in bus service created by historical accidents, thereby simplifying bus routes,

Ø     Establishes the B49 as a back-up to the Brighton Line between Prospect Park and Sheepshead Bay during subway service disruptions.

Ø     Improves access and increases system efficiency by eliminating duplicative bus /subway service without reducing bus service.
